Cat Power's hand gestures

Who can make waving your hands around and wriggling your fingers like you've got arthritis and are in pain look cool? CHAN MARSHALL can. Cat Power, she knows where it's at. She's so fun to watch, what with the snarling and sweeping gestures and her earthy, engrossing voice, she really brings her recorded material to life when performed live. I missed her in January and June this year. The June London show was right in the middle of my exams, and it really irked me because Beach House were the support, so that would have been amazing. Seeing as I got the grades I needed to go to university in London (and therefore go to more shows than if I had failed) I'm pretty sure I'll be able to catch her next time she returns. Bloggers and critics didn't seem to rate her 2008 effort Jukebox too highly. I think it's a pretty decent record, there are a few tracks I really enjoy (Lost Someone in particular), and I'm really excited for her to release a new album of her own material and the new EP. I also loved her Bob Dylan cover she did last year for the I'm Not There OST. I also love the way she types everything (her blogs and bulletins) in caps lock. Everything written in caps lock just seems crazy to me. She is unique, talented and fun, and one of my favourite musicians around now. I also find her to be a pretty inspiring person. If you read her early interviews she talks about how hard it was for her being up on stage and on display, and how nervous it made her. She's progressed so far from that and has achieved great success, which she rightly deserves. In alot of her interviews she is really open and honest, and comes off as extremely humble and genuine. Those are admirable qualities we could all aspire to have! Make sure you watch some youtube videos to see some of those crazy hand gestures!!
